Killed 23 Cats
On Wednesday night, a fire blasted through a Florida pet adoption center, killing 23 cats or more.
The fire started at Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, according to a Facebook post from the organization.
Despite the fact that firefighters were able to save all of the dogs, 23 cats perished.
The rescued animals were sent to the facility's Sanford location for evaluation and care.
At the end of their shift, officers with Orange County Animal Services discovered the fires and called the fire department.
The shelter claimed in a statement that "they responded as swiftly as they could to fight the blaze that was threatening to spread over the entire complex."
The Orange County Sheriff's Office released body camera footage of deputies rapidly removing dogs from the facility.
In the footage, one deputy says, "Come on bubba," as he puts a leash on a dog. "Come on," she says.
More than 30 animals were saved from the fire thanks to everyone's efforts, according to Animal Services.

The shelter remarked, "We'd like to recognize and thank everyone involved for their responsiveness and courage in saving as many lives as they could."
"We also wish to express our sympathies to our PAGO brothers and sisters for the loss of life, and to remind them that OCAS will always be there for them, just as they have been for us in the past."
A roof collapsing within the building delayed rescue efforts, a fire official said during a news conference on Thursday, making "access to all the animals… kind of tough."
Because of where the canines are held inside the facility, personnel was able to get to them swiftly, according to the official.

"They keep the dogs and cats apart," the officer added about the dogs and cats.
"So, in terms of where the fire was and where the animals were, the dogs were in an area where the fire had not yet reached."
The fire became so intense at one point that personnel was forced to retire and "attack it from our aircraft streams," according to the official.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
